Interim Final Rule Summary: Debt Collection Practices in Connection with the Global COVID-19 Pandemic (Reg F)

The Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection (CFPB) issued this Interim Final Rule (IFR) to amend Regulation F, which implements the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA). This rule addresses certain debt collector conduct associated with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) eviction moratorium and requires written notice to certain consumers of their protections under the CDC’s eviction moratorium and prohibits misrepresentations about consumers’ ineligibility for protections.
